Interregional Combat Arnis Federation (ICAF)

Self-defense in our troubled world is an object of concern for everyone - men and women, boys and girls, people of wealth or of moderate means; that is why the problem of one's own security attracts so great an attention from various strata of society. Any of us may find ourselves in a situation when we need to defend our folks, or ourselves, with no police around. Most likely, you will have to count only on yourself.

For acquiring basic skills of self-defense you don't have to master martial arts, all that you need first of all is self-reliance and your psychological readiness to withstand aggression.

There are many schools and currents of martial arts, with different names, styles, forms and methods of training. No matter how various, they are all just different ways leading to the same, most important goal, which is self-defense. Our Federation offers one of such ways, but which of them to choose is fully up to you.

ABOUT FEDERATION

The unique ancient culture of the Orient has been attracting the Russians' attention for ages. The brightest manifestation of this interest is their enthusiasm for martial arts, which has recently shifted from the Chinese and Japanese schools to those of Southeast Asia.

Among the most interesting and effective kinds of the martial arts are the single combats of the peoples inhabiting the Philippine archipelago. The martial arts of the Philippines form a comprehensive system, which includes stick fencing, knife fighting, use of improvised means for self-defense, and close fighting. The Philippine martial arts, already very popular around the world, have just started to develop in Russia. The interest to them is constantly growing, together with the number of people eager to join to this part of the ancient and original culture of the Philippines.

"Interregional Combat Arnis Federation (ICAF) consider it their main goal to extensively promote and develop the Philippine martial arts in Russia, and to familiarize Russians with the Philippine culture.

The Federation presents such schools as Combatan Arnis, Escrima Cerrada, Arnis De Mano, among others - this was corroborated by the ICAF's joining the International Philippine Martial Arts Federation (IPMAF). Our Federation was much supported by the consent of the IPMAF leaders to enter the Coordination Council of ICAF to constantly contact and cooperate on the improvement of training process, on raising skills of instructors and their trainees, on organization of their certification, with the goal to create a highly professional Philippine martial arts school in Russia.

ICAF also makes it an aim to study and develop, beside the Philippine combats (Arnis, Escrima, Kali), the fight systems based on the concept of Jeet Kune Do and other currents, similar or close in principles and tasks to the above schools.

At present the Federation is mainly occupied with training and retraining of instructors, coaches and tutors from several Special Forces of the Security service system of the Russian Federation. Aside from the daily trainings the ICAF instructors hold their own seminars and participate in many others, held by tutors of the colleges of the above security bodies.

As for the groups taught in the "open" training rooms, people of any age, sex, constitution, and level of callisthenics may, and do study here the martial arts.

The Federation holds in high respect all kinds, styles and schools of martial arts regardless their origin and national roots. The Federation does not oppose to any other martial art, but on the contrary, calls upon to a most extensive cooperation aimed at mutual enrichment with techniques and different fight systems. Therefore the Federation considers it essential to develop the Philippine martial arts in our country on the basis of a thorough and deep study of the Philippine masters' classical heritage.

ICAF is actively cooperating with other Schools and clubs in Moscow and other regions of the Russian Federation, and is always open to the dialogue on any joint projects, events and activities contributing to the promotion and development of martial arts in Russia.
